Northrop Grumman Defense Systems (NGDS) sector is seeking a highly qualified Mission Assurance (MA) Manager 2 to join our Tactical Air Systems (TACAIR) Operating Unit (OU) in Clearfield, Utah . The selected candidate will report to the Autonomous and Tactical Air Systems (ATAS) Business Unit (BU) Mission Assurance Director, and will have dotted line reporting responsibilities to the OU Manager. The TACAIR OU has programs located in St. Augustine, FL (and other FL locations), Bethpage, NY, Clearfield, UT, and Norfolk, VA.


  • Leverages a complete and thorough understanding of Program Management and Mission Assurance as well as proven leadership, managerial, and communication skills across all levels of the company

  • Establishes and nurtures an excellent working relationship with all customers, both internal and external, and quickly understands the technical domain encompassed by the TACAIR OU

  • Provides and manages MA support for existing and future programs and task orders in the OU including Production, Maintenance, Software, Design and Supplier Quality

  • Implements, maintains, and continually improves of the established QMS according to the requirements of the Quality Standard and Division, Sector, and Corporate quality policies, processes, and procedures

  • Ensures the total integration of quality requirements throughout all phases of design, planning, procurement, test, delivery, and post-delivery support

  • Provides leadership and guidance to the MA team

  • Provides dotted line leadership for the supplier quality team, and serves as the TACAIR focal point to the Business Unit for all MA activities including Program Assurance, Quality Assurance, System Assurance, and integration with Supplier Quality


Basic Qualifications:

  • Must have one of the following:

  • Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline with a minimum of 10 years of experience in program management or mission assurance

  • Master's degree in a STEM discipline with a minimum of 8 years of experience in program management or mission assurance

  • A minimum of 3 years' experience of progressive responsibility in providing technical leadership

  • Strong working knowledge of ISO9001, AS9100, AS9102 and CMMI requirements and understanding of relationships with the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS)

  • Working knowledge of various methods of root cause analysis (e.g., 5 Why, Ishikawa, Current Reality tree, etc.)

  • Must have or be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance

  • Must be able to travel as needed (up to 25% of the time)

  • Must be able to work on-site in Clearfield, Utah

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master of Science (MS) in program management or mission assurance related field

  • Background in engineering, logistics, and/or manufacturing (aircraft, missiles, electronics/avionics systems)

  • Understanding of Continuous Improvement concepts, process and tools

  • Understanding of Lean-Agile methodologies

  • Business acumen in the context of the impact of quality or lack of quality on Profit & Loss, cost and schedule

  • Demonstrated communication skills

  • Proficient with the MS Office Professional suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access)

  • Working knowledge of delivery of production spares and supplier operations

  • Working knowledge of delivery of engineering and logistics deliveries (CDRLs, reports, etc. that require delivery under various contracts)

  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt Certification
