Position Summary
A Machinist/ CNC Programmer is specially trained to program, setup, operate, and maintain a variety of CNC controlled machines. The proper candidate will work with lead designers, Mechanical Engineers, and Mechanical designers to fabricate machine tool parts to exacting tolerances. This position will work with the Machine shop manager to solve manufacturing problems, improve processes, and sustain quality product manufacturing. This individual will be expected to be a self-starter working with limited outside leadership but expected to over see manufacturing jobs from inception to completion.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Execute trade secret protection and confidentiality best practices.
Participate in the development of product design concepts and criteria
Coordinates well with lead designers, project managers, and engineers to implement manufacturing work in compliance with accepted quality standards and procedures
Review and asses manufacturability of drawings and 3D models.
Maintains a tool crib
Maintains raw material stock
Program CAM software for part manufacturing.
Designs and builds appropriate fixtures and tooling as required for setups.
Setup and operate manual machines including but not limited to mills, lathes, grinders, cutting torches, saws
Setup and operate numerically controlled machines and machining centers including 3-5 axis mills, and CNC turning centers
Troubleshoots and resolves most problems.
Verify tolerances are as per drawing specifications upon completion of work and maintains inspection documentation.
Responsible for safety within the machine shop.
Oils, lubricates, and performs other maintenance on production equipment to support the Preventive Maintenance Program.
Plan and execute multiple project tasks at one time.
Conduct additional duties as they arise
QUALIFICATIONS:
5 years’ experience in the machinist trade.
Completion of a recognized formal training in machining.
Familiar with all hand tools and measuring devices associated with the machinist trade.
Must be able to set up, maintain, and operate a variety of CNC equipment. Including FANUC and HASS controls.

Must be able to read and comprehend complex technical drawings including the practice of Geometric tolerancing and positioning.
