The DBS Leader is a facilitative leader accountable for process improvements yielding bottom-line productivity and improved delivery for the assigned plant. The position oversees lean six sigma transformation within the plant, including deployment strategy, planning, training, coaching, project management, and tool development while managing all activities associated with the design, implementation and sustainment of lean production and management systems. Specific focus on knowledge transfer, training and guidance in fact-based problem solving, continuous improvement tools and techniques. Will be a highly effective leader with expertise basics in lean manufacturing, overall operations management and plant transformations. He or she will lead high-impact events and transformations in our manufacturing sites while developing local capabilities.Key Responsibilities

  • Lead high-impact initiatives within our manufacturing sites through application of lean and achieve sustained productivity improvements.

  • Serve as an internal change agent in institutionalizing Lean simplification methodology. Support Hoshin Kanri policy deployment factory priorities/projects from initial layout to full implementation by leading and facilitating cross-functional project teams.

  • Assist in the coordination of Lean activities with and other functional groups to help ensure continuous improvement is in alignment with business goals, methods and objectives.

  • Develop and provide guidance to local personnel in lean including site lean transformation project leaders.

  • Support additional improvement activities as assigned.

  • Coordinate and co-manage all aspects of local Lean workout projects in conjunction with Department managers and subject matter experts.

  • Identifies potential projects, research or programs and defines the scope of the program.

  • Interfaces with all levels of engineers and managers, as well as materials, commercial sales, and other support functions.

  • Lead workshops/workouts events for new product lines and in support of product relocations and new building start-up. Apply Lean tools to improve process capability reduce variation and eliminate waste.

Lean Specific Goals:Demonstrate leadership, high personal standards, ability to develop intellectual capital and professional ethics. Must be a team player and strong leader with the ability to influence organizational change. Support Hoshin Kanri (yearly strategy deployment). Support tactical initiatives and breakthrough objectives. SQCDM (safety, quality, cost, delivery and morale/materials) results oriented.Who you are

  • Bachelor’s Degree in any Engineering Discipline (Mechanical, Science, technology, Electrical, Chemical, or Industrial Engineering) and six years of related manufacturing related experience. High school diploma/GED equivalent combined with 5 years manufacturing experience and 3 years lean experience will be considered.

  • Black Belt Certified.

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience facilitating/coordinating/coaching and mentor workshop/workouts a must have.

  • Facilitates change and supports the deployment, adoption and sustainment of Lean thinking and a Lean-based Management System within assigned plant; teaches and coaches Lean leadership principles and behaviors including servant leadership, A3 thinking, and Lean daily management routines including the use of visual management.

  • Customer-focused in defining quality and establishing priorities.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.

  • Executive level presentation skills.
