Manages production maintenance, rebuild technician, and system analyst personnel in respective Department. Coordinates maintenance and engineering support activities with production and engineering groups. Administers the Preventive Maintenance program for appropriate departments.


  • Manages the tactical execution of short- and long-term objectives through the coordination of activities with a direct responsibility for results, including costs, methods, and staffing.

  • Repairs and maintains production systems. Identifies safety issues for correction.

  • Oversees fabrication of pieces of equipment specific to this operation.

  • Identifies offline rebuild activities and develops rebuild processes and intervals.

  • Oversees the activities of the maintenance and rebuild technician group in a 24 hour/7 day a week operation.

  • Establishes comprehensive predictive maintenance plans for all production equipment through thorough review of machine hardware and failure histories.

  • Evaluates production quality problems stemming from production equipment and develops solutions.

  • Establishes maintenance processes to minimize production impact through SMED and Pit Stop techniques.

  • Confers with Spare Parts department to ensure parts are ordered and available as required.

  • Ensures proper spare parts are identified through thorough machine reviews and created in supporting systems for ordering and inventory control.

  • Works directly with engineering groups to develop and implement new processes, improvements, production machines, to drive OEE improvements.

  • Monitors machinery downtime and efficiency to ensure machinery and processes are operational to achieve department goals.

  • Ensures production equipment is maintained and set up to maximize efficiency.

  • Identifies and executes process improvements.

  • Assists in the commissioning validation and qualification of new and existing machinery.

  • Identifies and assists with upgrades to existing equipment.

  • Modifies and develops controls hardware and control software.

  • Maintains general housekeeping of working area and plant.

  • Interacts with internal departments and external customers; particularly in problem resolution and major maintenance planning. Acts as an advisor to subordinate(s) to meet schedules and/or resolve technical problems. Responsible for hiring, coaching and counseling employees, including performance reviews, disciplinary action and terminations.

  • Provide technical guidance.

  • Plans and executes long-term major maintenance events.

  • Assist with various projects as assigned.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; extreme cold; extreme heat; risk of electrical shock; risk of radiation and vibration.

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.


  • May be responsible for the direct supervision of various levels of Tech and Maintenance staff.


  • Bachelor’s Degree required; Advanced Degree desirable


  • 6 – 8 years’ related experience.

  • 3+ years’ supervisory or project/program management experience preferred.

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

  • Ability to read mechanical and electrical drawings.

  • Proficient in 2D and 3D CAD applications.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

  • Proficient with PCs and Microsoft Office applications including Microsoft Project.

  • Understanding of databases for data evaluation in determining inefficiencies.

  • Demonstrated people management and development skills.

  • Ability to establish and maintain positive interaction with organized labor groups.

  • Excellent planning and organization skills.

  • Ability to use time effectively and efficiently while managing multiple priorities.
