JBT Corporation Quality Manager in Ogden, Utah

Overview

Directs quality assurance operations across the Jetway business. Develops and controls quality systems and procedures in compliance with ISO 9001. Ensures robust operational processes are defined and followed to provide consistently high quality of products and other deliverables. Helps develop a process-focused culture with built-in quality to minimize the need for inspection. Familiar with quality systems and requirements typically expected from major aerospace defense contractors, military and other government agencies.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, coach and manage quality teams in Ogden, UT and any global manufacturing locations. Ensure appropriate quality checks are completed and discrepancies properly documented and resolved--from receiving inspection, through in- process, final inspection and shipping.

  • Lead the Ogden facility in maintaining ISO 9001:2015 certification on an ongoing basis.

  • Devise procedures, systems and metrics in collaboration with other departments to ensure products and other deliverables are of consistently high quality.

  • Understand customer expectations and support operations to meet customer requirements, reduce defects and improve process capabilities

  • Track, analyze, and report business quality metrics

  • Assure involvement by all employees in assuring product quality. Provide data to all levels of the company to make this possible.

  • Lead continuous improvement teams, customer quality reviews, and other quality initiatives

  • Lead the organization in Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) activities—internally and with customers

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with major customers and serve as a liaison between functional departments and the customer.

  • Manage the receiving quality process: track incoming supplier quality, audit suppliers, and manager supplier Corrective-Action Request (CAR) and Materials-Review Board (MRB) processes

  • Audit internal business and manufacturing processes to ensure compliance with documented procedures and work instructions and assure compliance to ISO 9001 requirements

  • Provide training to other employees in quality systems and tools

  • Work collaboratively with all departments to ensure compliance with customer contractual and regulatory requirements

  • Excellent communications skills with the ability to influence and persuade others to share a common vision

  • Must be able to define work within limits of broad, general objectives and manage projects with minimal supervision.

Qualifications

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum 7-10 years’ quality management experience in a manufacturing environment.

  • Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Engineering or a closely related technical field from a recognized university. A master’s degree in a technical or management field is a plus.

  • Knowledge of and practical experience with common industrial production processes including welding, machining, wet painting, powder coating, soldering, brazing, wiring, electro-mechanical assembly and product test.

  • ASQ Certification as Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) and/or Certified Quality Manager (CQM) is highly preferred

  • MUST have led or been a key contributor in maintaining ISO 9001:2015 certification in a prior position and have successful experience with ISO 9001 audits.

  • MUST have strong, practical experience with Lean Manufacturing and in leading continuous improvement teams and initiatives.

  • Excellent problems solving skills and proficient use of quality methodologies such as SPC, Six Sigma, RCCA, and others.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to management and/or public groups.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to comprehend and apply principles of calculus, modern algebra, geometry, and advanced statistical theory. Ability to work with concepts such as limits, quadratic equations, and college-level algebra.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

COMPUTER SKILLS

This position requires competent day-to-day use of the following computer skills: MicroSoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Visio; ERP/MRP Systems such as SyteLine; and PDM systems such as TeamCenter.
