Job Description:

Responsible for performing a variety of tasks ranging from repetitive to non-repetitive production assembly operations on electronic and/or mechanical assemblies and subassemblies for cables and harnesses. Responsible for performing functions associated with all manufacturing operations, including working with engineers in set-up and calibration tasks, as well as performing rework and quality testing related to the production of parts, components, subassemblies, and final assemblies. Uses sophisticated programs to collect and evaluate operating data to conduct on-line adjustments to products, instruments, or equipment. Determines and may assist in developing methods and procedures to control or modify the manufacturing process. Works with engineers in conducting experiments.

  • Will use pinning and stripping tools, make all types of connections, identify breakout positions, sleeve types, and braid requirements.

  • Will solder to terminals, connectors, and braid.

  • Works under general supervision. Less detailed instructions are provided and moderate peer review is required

  • Communicates with contacts typically within the department on matters that involve obtaining or providing information requiring explanation or interpretation to understand and reach agreement

  • Work is structured within identified boundaries and procedures.

  • Follows established processes to complete tasks

  • Identifies problems and issues in straightforward situations

  • Escalates issues to supervisor for resolution

  • Works to achieve operational targets within job area which has some impact on the overall achievement of results for the team.

  • Work is somewhat limited in scope, typically on smaller, less structured task-related activities


  • 1 year experience with and capable of conducting continuity and resistance testing, (C&R).

  • 2 years experience with reading wire tables and wire routing, wire diagrams, blue prints, schematics, color codes, measurements, mathematics, and both power and manual cable building tools.

  • 2 years experience with a Hand Assembly process in a manufacturing environment

  • 2 years experience with Lean Concepts in a manufacturing environment. (concepts similar to: Root Cause, Process Improvement, ect.)

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 4 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post-Secondary/ Associates Degree with 0 to 2 years of prior related experience

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Cable/Harness assembly experience preferred

  • An Engineering or Manufacturing Technical certification is preferred
