Job Summary

Supervises Carpenters, Painters, Roofers, and Concrete Specialists engaged in construction, maintenance, and repair of building structures and components. Oversees replacement of concrete sidewalks, curbs, gutters, and stairs. Assigns, schedules, and tracks work orders and projects to assure compliant and efficient installations. Manages shop budget.

Responsibilities

Manages daily work load and assigns work orders to shop personnel. Reviews projects for code compliance and quality. Responsible for shop safety and training updates. Works with customers to scope projects and provide estimates as necessary. Leads and mentors employees to teach new techniques and work practices. Manage shop budget and approves employee time. Approves shop project costs prior to the closing of shop work orders. Order materials for shop related projects.

Minimum Qualifications

Licensing as a Journeyman in a related trade or equivalent; five years of previous related trade experience; and previous supervisory and budgeting experience required. Demonstrated oral and written communications skills, analytical, and trouble shooting skills; and demonstrated customer services skills also required.

Preferences

Experience in managing personnel associated with construction and maintenance projects. History of meeting time lines, schedules and meeting customer expectations. Familiar with scheduling tools, CMMS programs, and Microsoft Office. Must be able to communicate well verbally in person and by phone. High level of customer service required. Must be familiar with the safe operation of hand and power tools as well as appropriate PPE . Must be able to promote safe work practices and ensure individuals are following proper procedures. Prior budgeting and estimating experience. Familiar with building envelope components and able to assess life cycles of these components.
